Accounts Payable Specialist (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Tampa, FL
Pay: $24-$26/hour

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join a growing team in Tampa. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with high-volume invoice processing, vendor management, and account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have strong accounts payable experience, excellent accuracy, and the ability to work independently while partnering with vendors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume PO and non-PO invoices accurately and efficiently
• Perform 3-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documentation
• Verify coding, approvals, and supporting documentation prior to payment processing
• Research and resolve invoice, pricing, quantity, and payment discrepancies
• Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive vendor relationships
• Process ACH, wire, and check payments according to established schedules
• Reconcile vendor statements and assist with month-end closing activities
• Maintain vendor records, including W-9s and banking information
• Support 1099 preparation and audit requests as needed
• Reconcile corporate credit card transactions and employee expense reports
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Utilize ERP and accounting systems to improve efficiency and streamline AP processes
• Assist with accounts payable responsibilities across multiple business locations

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Accounts Payable or related accounting experience
• Experience in a high-volume invoice processing environment
• Understanding of the full AP cycle, including invoice entry, approvals, payments, and reconciliations
• Experience with 3-way matching preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and reporting
• Experience with ERP or accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or similar systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with vendors and internal departments
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
